In a statement released on Feb. 21, 2006, Brian Kelly, DC, president of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic noted that the school has adopted the 2003 revision of the Council on Chiropractic Practice (CCP) Guidelines, “Clinical Guideline Number 1: Vertebral Subluxation in Chiropractic Practice.” Its action followed what Dr. Kelly characterized as “scrutiny of a range of Guidelines for chiropractic practice.”
“Vertebral subluxation, as a clinical entity is the centre of chiropractic practice and the College was looking for references that would validate that viewpoint,” Kelly explained. “The College takes the view that evidence is essential when determining the need for chiropractic care. This applies to all patients including children and asymptomatic patients.”
He added that “The College is also pleased at the ranking of analytical tools available to the chiropractor in subluxation‑focused chiropractic.”
The New Zealand College of Chiropractic, located in Auckland, was founded in 1994 and offers a Bachelor of Chiropractic. The program is accredited and approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and the Council on Chiropractic Education, Australasia.
